Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Highlights

Minimally invasive Gastric Sleeve Surgery removes part of your stomach and re-shapes the remaining portion into a tube or “sleeve,” which limits your hunger and food intake.

Gastric sleeve Surgery (Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy)  is a procedure which removes approximately 85% of the stomach, and reshapes the remaining portion into a tube or “sleeve.”  The result is a much smaller stomach which leaves you feeling less hunger and limits the amount of food you can take in.

At PinnacleHealth, this procedure is performed by our specialized bariatric surgeons, using the latest in state of the art laparoscopic technology to insure the least invasive method and the best results for our patients. This minimally invasive surgery is scheduled on an outpatient basis, with follow up appointments focusing on a gradual increase in caloric intake.

Gastric Sleeve surgery is considered a “restrictive” procedure, in that it reduces the size of meal portions your body can tolerate, but does not change the digestive process. However, a specialized diet and regiment of chewable and/or dissolvable vitamin supplements is recommended following the procedure. To find out more, talk with your Patient Advocate or download our Gastric Sleeve patient guide. We also offer an online Weight Loss Center supplements store for your convenience.
