This is a highly structured comprehensive program designed for individuals with a BMI of 30 or above or a BMI of 27-29.9 who also suffer from other obesity-related medical conditions such as:

The program uses a 4-Phase approach and consists of:

  • Weekly clinics & classes.
  • Educational sessions delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • Built-in accountability and support focused on achievable and sustainable weight loss for life.
  • The option to use New Direction® Low Calorie Diet or Very Low Calorie Diet high quality nutritional meal replacements for safe, effective and rapid weight loss.

4-Phase Approach

Phase I.  Initial Screening/Assessment
Evaluation and testing to determine the most appropriate weight loss recommendation. Includes:
  • Initial consultation with our Bariatrician
  • Labs and tests
  • Initial consult with exercise physiologist
  • New Start Group with registered dietitian
  • Bio-impedance measurement
  • One-on-one nutritional assessment with registered dietitian (for patients not on nutritional meal replacements).
 Phase II.  Reducing/Active Weight Loss (16 wks )
  • Weekly clinics & classes
  • Weigh in, blood pressure/medication check
  • Educational opportunity
  • Q&A with healthcare professionals
  • Option to use New Direction® high quality protein meal replacement products.
  • Option to work one-on-one with registered dietitians to create a healthy diet using grocery food.
  • One-on-one appointments with health care professionals as needed:
    • Physician
    • Registered dietitians
    • Behavioralist
    • Exercise physiologist
  • Periodic lab tests (if on nutritional meal replacements)
Phase III.  Adapting/Transition - Weight Loss Tapers (5-10 wks - varies per person)
Phase III focuses on returning to a normal diet that will help you keep weight off.  You will develop the habits necessary to create a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by reintroducing grocery food into your diet using your new nutritional knowledge. In addition, you will continue to use exercise to manage weight and stay healthy.
  • Re-assessment with our registered dietitian
  • Weekly clinic & class sessions
  • Weigh in, blood pressure/medication check
  • Educational opportunity
  • Q&A with healthcare professionals
  • Option to use New Direction high quality protein meal replacement products

Phase IV.  Maintenance/Sustaining - Maintaining Weight Loss (6 mos)
The Phase IV focus is on ensuring that your weight loss results continue long-term.  You will check in weekly while maintaining a healthy weight and practicing the lifestyle changes learned in earlier phases of the program.
