Weight Loss & Nutrition

This is a highly structured all-inclusive program designed as a multi-disciplinary approach for long-term behavioral modification.

The program uses a 4-Phase approach which consists of:

  • Required weekly clinic & classes.
  • Educational class sessions delivered by a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • Built-in accountability and support focused on achievable and sustainable weight loss for life.
  • The option to use high quality nutritional meal replacements for safe, effective and rapid weight loss.

The 4-Phase Approach

Phase I.  Initial Screening/Assessment
Evaluation and testing to determine the most appropriate weight loss recommendation to include:

  • Initial consultation with our Bariatric Provider
  • Labs and tests

Once determined that the individual is safe to begin the program, he/she will be scheduled for:

  • New Start Group with Registered Dietitian Tech
  • Initial consult with exercise physiologist
  • One-on-one nutritional assessment with Registered Dietitian (for patients not on nutritional meal replacements).

Phase II.  Reducing/Active Weight Loss
Phase II focuses on providing the tools needed to make healthier choices, set realistic goals and begin to integrate activity into any lifestyle.
Included during this phase:

  • Weekly clinics & classes
    • Weigh in, blood pressure/medication check
    • Educational opportunity
    • Q&A with healthcare professionals
  • Option to use New Direction® high quality protein meal replacement products.

    • Very Low Calorie Diet <link to page>
  • Option to work one-on-one with registered dietitians to create a healthy diet using grocery food.
    • One-on-one appointments with health care professionals as needed:
    • Bariatric Providers
    • Registered dietitians
    • Behaviorist
    • Exercise physiologist
  • Periodic lab tests (if using meal replacement products)

Phase III.  Adapting/Transition
Phase III focuses on returning to a grocery food diet while continuing the behaviors learned to keep weight off.  You will develop the habits necessary to create a healthy and sustainable lifestyle by reintroducing grocery food into your diet using your new nutritional knowledge. In addition, you will continue to use exercise to manage weight and stay healthy.
Included during this phase:

  • Re-assessment with our registered dietitian (highly recommended)
  • Weekly clinic & class sessions
    • Weigh in, blood pressure/medication check
    • Educational opportunity
    • Q&A with healthcare professionals
  • Option to use New Direction high quality protein meal replacement products
  • One-on-one appointments with health care professionals as needed:
    • Physician
    • Registered dietitians
    • Behaviorist
    • Exercise physiologist

Phase IV.  Maintenance/Sustaining
Phase IV focuses on ensuring that your weight loss results continue long-term.  You will check in monthly while maintaining a healthy weight and practicing the lifestyle changes learned in earlier phases of the program.
Included during this phase:

  • Monthly clinic & class sessions
    • Weigh in, blood pressure/meds check
    • Educational opportunity with a focus on support and maintenance
    • Q&A with healthcare professionals
  • Use of New Direction® products (as needed)
